A grief resource for the people you serve

In the course of your work, you may meet people who are experiencing grief. When their response to loss is normal and they are not seeking clinical treatment, what may serve them best is time with someone trained specifically in grief, someone who can help them understand what they are experiencing and why it feels the way it does. Griellea is a private grief support and education practice built for exactly this, and this page will show you how it works.

Why Griellea

Griellea is led by Dillon Claire, a Certified Grief Educator trained directly under one of the world's foremost authorities on grief and loss, David Kessler. Her preparation for this work spans more than three decades and reaches across fields that are rarely integrated.

Her early career was in medicine. She worked in cardiology at a Level I trauma center, conducting testing on patients including those arriving in the emergency department in cardiac arrest. That work gave her direct hands-on familiarity with critical care, sudden loss, and the realities clinicians face every day.

She completed training in disaster medical response, triage, search and rescue with FEMA, and was invited to serve on the local volunteer deployment team. She also brings a background with experience supporting individuals and families through some of the most difficult forms of loss, including volunteer work with cold case investigation teams focused on bringing answers to families living in unresolved grief for years, sometimes decades.

Dillon has been featured in regional media including 3TV, ABC15, and the East Valley Tribune, and has been interviewed on AZTV by Arizona broadcasting legend Pat McMahon.

When to think of Griellea

Someone in your care may benefit from grief education when they are:

  • Grieving a death and needing a dedicated space to address that loss
  • Living with the weight of a life-limiting illness, whether it be their own or a loved one's
  • Feeling isolated in their grief or reluctant to burden the people around them
  • Carrying guilt, anger, or complicated feelings about the person they lost
  • Grieving a loss that others may not fully recognize or understand

What grief education looks like

Griellea serves individuals experiencing a normal response to loss and thus operates outside the clinical system entirely. In every session, the client's grief is met with professional training and compassion.

Appointments are private, one-to-one, and the client can connect from the comfort of their home with encrypted video. Each session is 60 minutes and tailored to what the individual is carrying. Sessions can be scheduled as needed, or arranged as a focused series of educational topics with a clear beginning and end, determined by what serves each client best.

How referrals work

Referrals to Griellea are simple and require nothing of you administratively. Share Griellea.com with the individual and they can explore the site, learn what to expect, and schedule a Discovery Conversation when they feel ready. There are no forms to complete, no information to exchange, and no work on your part beyond making the suggestion.

Grief consulting for your team

Beyond individual referrals, Griellea offers educational workshops, webinars, and customized training opportunities for organizations, small businesses, and professional groups whose work brings them into contact with grief and loss. These learning opportunities help your team respond to grieving individuals, and tend to the professional grief that arises when, despite all best efforts, outcomes were not as hoped for.
